We are an urgent care center for the uninsured, the under-insured, and all those with unmet health care needs in our community.

We are also a point of entry for those with no access to the health care system. We are equipped to treat urgent illnesses or injuries. For patients with continuing needs, we try to find a primary care physician willing to accept their case.

When possible, we also connect families to non-medical resources in the community.

For a lack of human or financial resources, we may at times fall short, but our staff, board and volunteers strive every day to live up to this commitment:

CURING WHEN POSSIBLE,
CARING ALWAYS

_10 Things you should know about us

  1. We are an urgent care center for the uninsured, the under-insured, and those with unmet health care needs in our community. The Center was founded on the belief that if our churches, community and medical providers work together, all our neighbors can have access to quality care.
  2. We have three clinics, one located in Goshen, Indiana, and two in Elkhart. We serve as a point of entry for those with no access to our health care system.
  3. Our clinics are primarily staffed by volunteer doctors and nurses, and other volunteers who work as greeters, cashiers, do patient data intakes, and translate.
  4. Because we depend on volunteers (about 5,000 volunteer hours each year), we can keep expenses low. It costs only about $50 to treat each person. Patients are asked to donate $20 for a visit, but only about 75% are able.
  5. Our care goes far beyond treating injury or illness. Our Patient Advocates place as many persons as we can with primary care physicians, including Heart City and Maple City Clinics. (Note: We are not in competition with other clinics, but provide many of their referrals.) We also connect families to non-medical resources such as housing, food and counseling assistance.
  6. More than a third of the patients we treat are children.
  7. The Center is a faith & hope-based outreach that partners with area churches from all denominations committed to serving our needy neighbors in Christ’s name. We are one of only two such centers in the United States.
  8. Most of our adult patients work, but must do so at jobs that do not provide any benefits.
  9. There are 25,000 folks without health insurance in our area. If our Center did not exist, their only option would be to seek out options that exceed their ability to pay, such as the Emergency Room, or give up on seeing a doctor altogether.
  10. Combined, our clinics are open Monday - Friday, with four evening sessions and three morning sessions. We treat about 3,000 patients each year, but have to turn away hundreds more. More volunteers would increase our patient volume and decrease the number turned away.
